EnzymeCon 2023 Call for Contributions (Times are UTC)

This call for contributions will close on 2023-01-06 11:59 UTC.

EnzymeCon is a new workshop, which aims to bring together contributors and users of Enzyme in particular, and people interested in automatic differentiation within the LLVM infrastructure in general, for three days of fast-paced high-bandwidth idea exchange and collaboration bootstrapping from the 22nd until the 24th of February in Boulder, Colorado (USA). The workshop format remains flexible and friendly to practitioners and researchers alike.

The workshop audience is interested in the following topics:

  • Design and implementation of Enzyme and its subsystems as well as related tools.
  • Scientific and industrial applications of Enzyme, existing and proposed.
  • Automatic differentiation with the LLVM compiler infrastructure, other than Enzyme.
  • Learning from other automatic differentiation systems applicable to Enzyme/LLVM.

Contributions formats include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • technical talks (regular presentation format, 20-30 minutes questions included);
  • tutorials (extended in-depth presentation format, 60-90 minutes);
  • panel discussions (a small-group public discussion and Q&A on a particular topic, 30-60 minutes);
  • roundtables (a larger-group open-to-the-public discussion on a particular topic, 30-60 minutes);
  • any other format relevant to the workshop audience, e.g., live programming or brainstorming sessions.

Submission Details

Proposals should be submitted as a PDF of up to 2 pages printable on Letter and A4 paper using a font of at least 11pt. We encourage authors to use the ACM article LaTeX template of version 1.88 or above with the single-column option. The proposal must include:

  • The title and kind of contribution
  • The list of authors and their affiliations; please indicate who of the authors intends to attend the workshop if already known.
  • The abstract of the talk that allows reviewers to assess its relevance for the venue; consider including a short paragraph on what the attendees can get from this contribution.
  • Logistical requirements of the contribution: description of the format if it doesn't fit into any of the categories; required room setting and equipment; any restriction on date and time; for panels and roundtables, names of the panelists or moderators.

Review of Proposed Contributions

All submissions will be reviewed by the workshop organizers and external experts when deemed necessary, e.g., in cases of conflict of interest. The submissions will be evaluated based on their assessed interest for the community and their potential for stimulating discussion. Unlike researcher-oriented conferences, novelty is not a requirement, although it may be beneficial for the audience. The organizers will provide a short justification as to why a proposal was or was not accepted, but will not provide detailed reviews. We may be contacting the authors of custom format proposals to discuss logistics before the final decision of acceptance.

Proceedings will not be published. Therefore submitting to and presenting at EnzymeCon does not preclude further submissions or presentations. EnzymeCon does not disallow concurrent submissions, but keep in mind that other venues may.

Conference Code of Conduct

As an LLVM incubator project we are committed to providing an inclusive and safe experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. All attendees are expected to read and abide by the LLVM Code of Conduct. The organizers reserve the right to reject or rescind the acceptance of any contribution that may be in violation of the Code of Conduct or may be otherwise considered harmful to the normal operation of the workshop.
